  I own an early Lauda prototype j-style bass that Chris made for me…. In fact I reckon I own one of the finest sounding (and best looking) basses around (of course I could be accused of extreme bias, but no, I am a hard task master when it comes to my instruments, I know what I want and I know when it has been achieved).… I came to Chris with a bunch of ideas. I wanted a Fender Jazz style bass with a 21 fret fretboard (so to have E to E range caged within my fretboard) , a Willis ramp - but adjustable (to compensate for my less than ideal right hand technique), Nordstrand pickups, Sadowsky electronics, acoustic chambering, Hipshot de-tuner for the E string. Well… he built it… and it is magnificent. When I came to Adelaide to pick it up, it wasn’t quite right, the fretboard/setup wasn’t quite me. Well first he listened to what I had to say … then he went to incredible lengths to get it right removing the neck, adjusting the truss-rod, filing frets, measuring, calculating thinking some pacing, some more adjusting….. and well,… he friggin nailed it.... god I love this bass… thanks Chris.
